I have been employed as a clerk to governors since 2012 but have been involved with school governance since 2008 when I was elected as a parent governor at my children’s school in Cheltenham. I am now chair of governors at that school, although my two children are long gone, and I currently clerk for nine schools in Gloucestershire. Trained as a primary school teacher (although never taught!), I have always had a passion for education and feel that being involved with a variety of governing boards allows me to keep up-to-date with national and local education policies and practices. Being a clerk to a number of schools not only keeps me busy, but also enables elements of good practice (both governance and clerking) to be shared between the schools.
